Not quite. There's a number of extra factors involved in energy drinks beyond just having more caffeine. They can also have higher amounts of sugar and are designed to be consumed more quickly. With coffee, it's easier to pace yourself and ensure that you have a more controlled dosage, while also avoiding all of the extra ingredients.
Of course, I drink neither. A simple combination of tea and a sweet breakfast works wonders for me.
