[On the whole, Sakura is not a connoisseur of fast food. Her youth had set the tone for healthier options - lots of rice, lots of vegetables, limited sugar and carbs - and despite her newfound freedom in America, the girl is reluctant to stray from what she's familiar with. Except today is Thursday: the day her bank account apparently doesn't care what she wants. She takes one look at her debit card and heaves a sigh.
Well... there's still some daylight left. If she takes the bus, she'll be at a nearby McDonalds within 15 minutes. A solid battle plan, she thinks while grabbing her purse before marching out the door.
Though she might've reconsidered if she'd kept in mind the dinner rush. When she arrives, the lines aren't stupidly long, but she's still standing behind at least 6 people before it's her turn. And then the ordering process takes a good 5 minutes with the cashier (newly hired, she assumes), messing up her order.
No big deal, at first. Sakura's a patient girl when she tries to be. And it's only on a hunch that she checks her bag and sees that everything - everything - is wrong. Two quarter-pounders. A thing of chicken nuggets. No fries. Oh come on.]
Um... excuse me? [She waves down the first person in uniform she sees, smile polite but a little pinched with exasperation.] Sorry but... my order isn't correct. This might be someone else's.
[This person she flags down may look a bit familiar. Clad proudly in his uniform, Byakuya glances towards her with a look of recognition.]
You...
[He extends his hand.]
I need your order and your receipt. I will get to the bottom of this.
[Byakuya seems quite intense! Of course he is. He's dedicated to this job and to running the most efficient and effective team that he can. If something's wrong, it's an insult towards everything he worked for. He does know this woman, and he doubts that she's trying to deceive him... But could that mean that one of his own have failed so pathetically?!]
[ Daisuke finally gathered enough courage to come back to McDonalds after ditching abruptly several months ago. He really hopes that wouldn't affect his chances at getting hired too much, but it's better having tried than never, so.
Here he is.
He's at the counter, asking one of the workers for a job opportunity here, who would probably ask for Byakuya. He is... so anxious, but trying his best to calm his nerves as he waits. ]
[ hi byakuya how are you today, have some knocking on your door...outside are two girls, one of whom is related to him and he sure did not ask for this, but. while she waits for the door to open, kyouko addresses natalia: ]
...We never did pick a song, did we? Well, do you have a preference? We'll go with your choice.
Oh we didn't, did we? Hmmm... [ She considers this a moment, rocking on her heels in her cute little boots. She can be vain a little bit, right? The platinum blonde tuts and... ] Well! Actually, should we just go more classic or modern? I guess carols are meant to be classic.
[During the early morning in their shared dorm, if Byakuya is still sleeping, he most likely won't be any longer because of that sudden shout. Of course, Ishida is far from being quiet in the first place, but this is loud, even for him.
Although, Ishida isn't paying much attention to that fact or if he's being considerate to his roommate. He's just looking at the mirror on his closet door with a panicked expression, his fingers stretching his eyelids so that he can truly confirm the change that has happened.]
[Byakuya had been sleeping in today, but he was snapped awake by that screaming. Immediately, he raced across the dorm in his very plain pajamas to seek out the source.]
Taka?! What's going on? [This sounds particularly alarming compared to his usual loudness!]
[ on the morning after naegi's dumb entry, he arrives bright and early (unlike ichi) right outside byakuya's place. he has brought over coffee like he promised, one for himself and one for byakuya on a drink tray, and he has the bloodied knife in a shoebox tucked away in his backpack so all ready to discuss ~murder~, he knocks on the front door. ]
[A text comes to you in the late afternoon of February 3rd. The sender's name has been encrypted and errors out and there are no signs of who the message belongs to. Clicking on the profile of this Retrospec user brings up a picture of the Retrospec symbol.]
How would you like to help us help you out? Your observation period's up and I want you on this particular assignment. You'll be fine, you're probably not going to die, and we'll be able to monitor you from here. We need help. You've got the skills needed even if you don't know it yet. I know it and that's what counts.
You'll be working with a group (wish I could give you the names, still putting the lists together), but your assignment partner is Dave Strider. Should you choose to accept this assignment, you will need to meet at the Recollé Zoo and Aquarium and we'll go from there.
You'll be rewarded for your success, of course, but this is only if we have an agreement. Do we have an agreement?
[No other messages will be sent from this account at this time.]
[ooc: Hello! You've been sorted into group 4. Your event log will go up at 9pm EST along with all of the other logs. We encourage you to read the main event log as well for more information about your recruiter and this note. In the meantime, head over to this thread on the latest mod post and meet your teammates. Thank you!]
[Now this is unexpected. And quite sketchy. But if his skills are really needed and it can help the others, then he cannot pass this up. The only way to face the truth is to step forward, after all.]
Yes. I, Byakuya Kirigiri, provide my official consent to lend my assistance.
Ah, Sakura. It's no problem. I should have thought to contact you as well about the subject in question.
I happen to not be in the city at the moment. Retrospec has asked me to take part in some sort of assignment, and it seems that I may be away for quite some time.
Hi Byakuya, I just wanted to move this here since it's kind of a lot.
You know how I said my memories have been half and half? Well I've gotten some "normal" memories, but I've also had a bunch of definitely not normal ones. I thought they were about monsters at first but more recent memories make me wonder if they were ghosts or supernatural in general. I got attacked by them in some of the memories, and in others I was helping protect against them. I'm pretty sure I had powers? There was definitely magic involved though.
That is indeed quite a lot. It sounds like your other life must have been quite the fantasy. I'm glad that it sounds like you have some sort of power on hand to protect yourself.
Were you faring well in this memories? May I also ask how you feel as a result of these experiences?
[For Sakura, school has been a sore subject as of late. It turns out balancing horrific memories and work does put a damper on your creative intellect, and so she's been treated to a stream of subpar grades that always set her cringing. Nothing yet in the realm of failing, but she'll be lucky to manage a decent C come finals.
So today, she's determined to put some effort into her artwork. Rather than stay at the park (bad memories and all), Sakura wanders around the campus for a decent spot to park herself at -- maybe a bench, or a nice patch of grass another art student isn't hoarding.]
[As she makes her way through the campus, she'll eventually spot an unusual sight. It's a strange-looking being hoarding his own patch of grass - complete with an entire picnic set up! He hungrily digs into the food, while paying little mind to the rest of the world.
He can only remember so many things. And he failed his task, losing his form. Without anything to depend on, at least food still tastes good.]
[It's not an uncommon sight for Ishida to be at his desk, since he's usually hunched over working on notes or finishing his schoolwork for the night. However, tonight is not one of those days, since he's just sitting at his desk with a contemplative look on his expression. Well, part contemplative and part troubled.
With finals looming and the entire situation with the collapsing layers, he hasn't gotten much chance to speak with his roommate... which is troubling! Last month's conversation involving Byakuya's two talents has been stuck on his mind and Ishida knows that he can't simply brush it aside.
He could've brought it up during his birthday, but even Ishida is aware that wouldn't have been the best time. But now...
He just hopes that Byakuya isn't too busy with his own work right now.]
[The month's been off to a chaotic start, between the collapse of the layers and the coming finals. Byakuya's had a lot on his hands - but at least his birthday's been enjoyable. Now he's trying to work on some sketches on his desk, but he's having trouble making anything satisfactory. As he hears his roommate's voice, he responds to him from across the room, without leaving his own desk.]
...I have time that I can set aside, yet. You may speak as you wish, Taka.
[He feels like he knows what's coming, thinking back to the conversations from last month.]
And because they're friends that means Baren is the type of friend that's going to drop by unannounced to see Byakuya literally anywhere at all. Is he at work? Is he at home? I dunno, we can roll with anything! But regardless there's a knock against the nearest surface to get his attention as Baren makes his entrance.]
—still Byakuya in there, right?
I'm not talking to - I dunno, Sanji or something? I hate having to check but....
[Baren finds him at McDonalds in full uniform, at a quieter part of his shift. He's dressed in his uniform and stacking up some trays when Baren taps on a surface nearby. He scoffs at that question, while retaining a smirk.]
Of course. Perish the thought... Sanji wouldn't last a day in my shoes. You're speaking to the genuine article known as Byakuya Kirigiri. And with a greeting like that, I doubt that I have to ask if you're still you...

Lunch is still fine. All should go according to schedule.
So you've remembered some more? I'd like to hear about them anyway. And this time, I may have something of my own to share.
